If the price is moderate and you do not want to wait a week at short notice, consider a regional distributor with a local warehouse. When purchasing, say directly: Our monthly usage is stable, we can sign a quarterly framework agreement, and we do not accept having to transfer goods after each temporary order. This way, they will usually reserve inventory for you. Tris and glycine in 1 kg or 2.5 kg packaging are both acceptable, but the laboratory should prepare sealed containers and a dry environment to avoid moisture absorption and caking. SDS powder is more prone to moisture absorption, so it is best to keep it sealed in the original packaging and aliquot it weekly. When selecting a supplier, ask the sales representative to provide the recent stock/inventory status of that SKU, or clarify whether exchanges are possible if there are batch differences. Do not look only at the unit price; warehouse response speed and return/exchange policies are more critical. After the logistics delivery arrives, promptly check whether the packaging is damaged and whether there is caking.

For stable lead times in Shanghai, I recommend prioritizing suppliers with local stock warehouses. Sinopharm, Sangon, Aladdin, Macklin, and Beyotime all have warehouses in East China, but you need to confirm whether specific SKUs are regularly stocked. For Tris and glycine in large quantities, you can sign a quarterly framework agreement or a monthly settlement plan, and have the sales rep reserve inventory based on your monthly usage, so you don't have to place last-minute orders each time. SDS can be evaluated separately; some suppliers have less stable lead times for SDS than for Tris. It's best to maintain two suppliers at the same time—one primary and one backup—and don't focus only on unit price. Before ordering, confirm with the sales rep: whether the Shanghai warehouse has stock, how many working days after ordering it will arrive, and how long it will take if transferred from another location. Clarifying these three questions will basically help you avoid week-long waits.

When changing suppliers for bulk packaging, pay close attention to batch-to-batch differences in pH and conductivity. Upon receipt, request the COA first and check content, loss on drying, pH range, conductivity, or heavy metal-related items. Tris can be prepared as a 1 M stock solution, with pH measured at 25°C and compared against the previous batch or theoretical range; glycine can be prepared at about 0.1 M for pH measurement, then quickly compared with the old batch using a conductivity meter. For SDS, check dissolution speed and clarity. If streaking or abnormal migration appears during electrophoresis, check the electrophoresis buffer first. It is recommended that after a new batch arrives, first prepare a small amount of gel and run two standard samples, while keeping a little of the old batch for parallel comparison, and only use it in bulk after confirming no obvious changes in band morphology and migration position. If the supplier cannot provide a COA and only gives verbal assurance, I would be unlikely to use it long term no matter how stable the lead time is.
